United Healthcare Selects Interlex Communications as Multicultural Agency
(San Antonio, December 19, 2013) – Interlex Communications has been selected as a national multicultural agency of record for UnitedHealth Group following a competitive process earlier this year. As its first assignment, in 2014 Interlex will manage African American engagement and educational outreach for United Healthcare.
According to Interlex CEO Rudy Ruiz, “This is a vital moment in the evolution of our country’s healthcare delivery system. As the changes brought about by healthcare reform take place, multicultural communities have the most to gain through increased access to coverage and better care. This is an area we’ve been working on in terms of educating the public for some time with our client, AARP. So we’re very excited to now have an opportunity to deepen that educational process, engage new audiences, and support their increased enrollment in programs that can enhance their wellbeing.”
UnitedHealth Group is a diversified managed healthcare company that is ranked number 17 on the Fortune 100 list of top companies in the U.S. It is the parent of United Healthcare, the largest single health carrier in the nation. United Healthcare partners with AARP to provide Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans.
Interlex will manage the campaign including experiential branding, events, public relations and advertising within the African American market, servicing the account from its offices in New York, California and San Antonio. Ruiz added: “This is an account that will truly put a range of our resources to work, including the African American-market and urban-focused experiential branding and PR team in our New York City office, our media department in San Antonio, and our digital and account strategy team in California.”
The account win further builds Interlex’s healthcare expertise and client roster. Current Interlex health-related clients include AARP, City of Houston Department of Health and Human Services, Ohio State University Medical Center, Texas Tech Health Science Center-El Paso, USDA, and the Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program.
Past health-related clients include American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Center for Science in the Public Interest, the state health departments of Delaware, Michigan, Wisconsin and Texas, and the University of Texas Health Science Center.
